Anxiety

Trauma is defined as an event(s) that overwhelms the nervous system. As a result, the nervous system becomes "uncalibrated" and day-to-day situations can have a significant effect on your wellbeing. Additionally, many traumatized people go through cycles of high anxiety followed by periods of feeling down so daily interactions can result in high stress and panic followed by complete exhaustion. Anxiety also manifests in "racing thoughts" which affect the ability to focus, sleep, and function at work or school. Therapy will focus on learning how to accept your thoughts and reduce your reactivity to them. You’ll gain insight as to how and why certain situations affect you, and build habits to discharge the stress buildup. While stress is a normal part of life, we can develop non-reactivity and learn how to diffuse anxiety so it no longer stifles our existence.
