Depression often goes hand-in-hand with trauma. The symptoms of trauma can be devastating, which leaves many individuals feeling down, hopeless, and, in some cases, unable to complete daily tasks or interact with others. Some individuals resort to suicide and self-harm, which are on the most challenging results of depression. Therapy focuses on understanding the causes of how you feel and then starting to take small steps to establish a feeling of hope, by developing acceptance and self-compassion. You learn to recognize and celebrate small wins, rather than aim for perfection. Each behavior and habit allow you to take another step towards the life you envision for yourself. Medication can be explored as an aid with a provider who can prescribe it.
